The short answer

DocTalker physicians make house calls for loved ones across Northern Virginia, and no membership is needed for patients who receive care mainly at home. A 30-minute house call is $440. Members pay $374, which is 15% off the visit time only. The distance fee is $0 within 5 miles of our Vienna clinic and up to $150 at 25 miles. Materials used at the visit, including blood draw materials, are billed separately.

We make house calls within about 25 miles of our Vienna clinic, including Vienna, McLean, Tysons, Oakton, Arlington, Falls Church, and Fairfax.

How to arrange a house call

  1. If your loved one lives in a facility, check that it allows outside physicians.
  2. Have billing details and your loved one's information ready.
  3. When you schedule, choose any of our clinicians, based on availability.
  4. Call (703) 938-4600 ext. 2.

If a facility restricts outside physicians

If an assisted living or other care facility does not allow outside physicians, we cannot see your loved one there. You may want to discuss this with the facility.

How soon can you come?

A house call can happen the same day if we have received billing details and your loved one's information and time is available. Otherwise, we schedule the next available appointment.

Care between visits

When an aide, caretaker, or family member reaches out, we handle the concern by phone if it can be addressed that way, and schedule a visit if one is needed. We also coordinate with outside nurses and imaging. This care is billed based on time.

Other costs

  • Coordination and phone calls outside the visit are billed based on time.
  • Medication refills are $35 per encounter.
  • New house call patients pay a one-time $110 registration fee.
  • DocTalker has opted out of Medicare, so Medicare does not reimburse house calls. We provide a superbill you can submit to your own insurance.
